A trend we have noticed with decreasing reimbursements, increasing costs and need for higher patient volumes our area was confirmed by a new report published recently by Accenture:
According to the report, by the end of 2013 the market will consist of only 36% independent physicians – down from 57% in 2000. The reasons?
Expense of running a business (87 %)
Managed care (61 %)
Increasing number of paitents needed (39%)
The report also highlighted changing trends with one in three physicians reported to be seeking to move to subscription-based care such as concierge services and direct-pay models. Subscription based practices can shift the focus from service volume and gain the flexibility to provide better care without worrying about their bottom-line.
